Initiative #3: Workplace Environment
Foster a workplace environment that reflects CCRC’s commitment to its vision and mission
• The Palmdale location expanded to accommodate two new offices, a training room, 4,200 square foot conference room and an additional break room This expansion is a direct result of the agency’s program growth in the Antelope Valley
• A steering committee was put together to discuss and review projects that affect multiple departments Meetings are held to discuss business improvements, ways to reduce costs, and things that are mission critical or required by funders, laws or other regulations
• Weekly updates were implemented These short but informational emails are sent to all staff and speak to “happenings” across the agency Updates highlight agency events, volunteering, committees, new job announcements, work anniversary celebrations, new processes and procedures, grant awards, and program news
• The agency went “green” in an effort to reduce waste and conserve energy A cross- departmental team designed a logo, marketing materials and shared the message Changes included automatic computer shut down after business hours, recycling and shredding bins at all locations, and using glassware instead of paper cups
• Cross-functional teams were formed to encourage staff participation at all levels in producing campaigns and events including Rock the Vote, All Staff, Health & Safety, Green Team, Annabelle Godwin Play Day, Laps4Literacy, Holiday Toy Drive, What a Difference a BOOK Makes, and the San Bernardino Family Play Day
• Human Resources conducted a thorough compensation study that evaluated and updated job descriptions, compared jobs on the open market, and developed inclusive and competitive salary ranges Other improvements include an updated employee handbook and service awards program, and the implementation of an ethics hotline
• A newly designed benefits structure was implemented offering a variety of medical, dental and vision plans, 12 months of benefits for nine month staff, and tiered 403(b) contributions for all staff
• Coordinated trainings including Preventing Sexual Harassment, High Performing Supervisors, Documenting Discipline, Appraising Performance, Mandated Reporter, and more
